YOUR ISO BEAUTY QUESTIONS ANSWERED.
Since I have embraced the advice of the health authorities and wash and sanitize my hands continuously throughout the day, I have noticed my hands look and feel dry. My normal hand lotion is not helping. What extras can I do to restore 1 the normally soft skin I pride myself as usually having?
My first suggestion is to switch to a sensitive skin product for washing your hands. Choose one that is free from fragrance and colours. There are many fine products available at the supermarket or your local health food store. Don’t use hot water, warm water will be fine. The next thing to do is to pat your hands dry instead of rubbing them dry, leaving them slightly damp. Now use a hand cream rather than a hand lotion as the creams are heavier and often oil-based. Lotions tend to be water-based so not as good as the creams. Don’t forget to rub the cream into your nails and the cuticles. Do this several times a day. And one other suggestion is to get yourself some cotton gloves to wear at night. Coat your hands with the richest, oiliest hand cream you can find and then put the gloves on and go to bed. Next morning your hands will feel lovely and soft! The more often you do this, the better your hands will look and feel! And you should be selective when choosing your hand sanitizer, there are plenty of options out there now to buy with a moisturizing base. You will need your sanitizer to have at least 60% alcohol for it to be effective.
Now that I am working from home during isolation and doing a ton of Zoom meetings, I am wondering if you have any tips on how to look my best on Zoom but without wearing too much makeup since I am working from home?
You don’t want to look overdone, just a nice natural, barely-there look works best on Zoom. Minimal effort with maximum results is my motto! Start with a liquid illuminator and a little concealer. Mix a small amount of the concealer with slightly more illuminator and apply to a clean moisturized face, mainly tapping along the under-eye area and the brow bone area. Now the dark circles are gone and you look awake! For those who feel too naked with totally no coverage, apply a small amount of BB Crème followed by a little blush. Apply a tinted brow gel and brush brows in an upward direction and this will give a nice framing to your face. Next some mascara and then finish off with a soft natural lip colour – think pink or even a lightly tinted lip balm Check your hair and if needed use a dry shampoo to add volume and to get rid of your bed hair! You are now all ready for your Zoom meeting and no one will ever know you have just rolled out of bed 5 minutes ago! Just remember to get out of your pyjamas.
