BEAUTY ROUTINE: YOUR PERFECT MORNING AND EVENING

Your skincare routine should mirror your dedication to your training and diet regime, it is not something to be careless with. It goes without saying that the amount of effort you are prepared to put in is shown in the results you end up with.
Of course, we all know that “we are what we eat” so our diet will also reflect in our hair, skin and our body.
It makes sense to do whatever possible from the outside too in our quest for great healthy and clear skin. A skincare routine should become as second nature as brushing your teeth or combing your hair. Every morning and every evening you should be working on getting your best possible results and we are going to set out a good routine that is easy to maintain.
Important to remember is to choose a skincare range to suit your skin type. Choices will be for DRY, OILY, COMBINATION or NORMAL.

MORNING

1 CLEANSE
Upon waking, splash your face with warm water. Use a cleanser.
2 TONER
Use a toner which will help to make sure you have no cleanser left on your skin. There are a huge variety of toners on the market, choose one without alcohol and one that suits any skin issues you may have.
3 SERUM
There are many great serums on the market and many are very concentrated with nutrients specifically for your skin type/issues. Anti-Oxidant serums is a great choice.
4 EYE CREAM
Young people never think they will get old but believe me, it happens to all of us! If you get into a good routine early in life, you will prevent many issues as you age. Eye wrinkles are a sure sign of age so be sure to use eye cream at least once a day. If you choose to use eye cream in the morning, get one with SPF for the added bonus of sun protection.
5 MOISTURIZER
Hydration and sun protection and a good base to start putting make up onto, moisturizer is a must. A high SPF is a great bonus otherwise you will need to add sunblock to your routine during the warmer months. Apply to the skin while it is still slightly damp (better to lock in the hydration of moisturizer) using around a pea-size amount. Apply to the cheek area using a gentle circular motion. Finish by applying to the rest of your face. Any surplus should be continued down towards the throat/ neck area.

EVENING

1 CLEANSER
Cleanse off the day! The makeup, the dust and grime and soon you will feel nice and fresh! There are different types of cleansers, from face wipes to washes to cream cleansers. A lot is what suits you and many of us like to have all the choices available so that if you don’t feel washing your face, you can use a face wipe of a creamy cleanser that you just tissue off. Just be careful to check the wipe or tissue that you have thoroughly cleansed. If you get to the next step of toner and your cotton pad is still showing signs of makeup, perhaps try doing a double cleanse when you have had a face full of makeup! Take care to carefully remove all your eye makeup with an eye makeup remover. Remember that the skin around the eyes is very fine and delicate so take special care.
2 TONER
Next, apply your Toner with a cotton pad and carefully wipe your entire face. Make sure you get into the area between your nose and cheeks as your cleanser can sometimes “hide” in this area.
3 EYE CREAM
Similar to the morning routine, next up is the eye cream onto a perfectly clean face. And once again, take care not to be rough in this delicate skin area.
4 TREATMENTS
Once or twice a week, treat your skin to a nice anti-aging serum or a super moisturizing mask that you leave on overnight. These types of treatments have a luxe feel that gives you a radiant glow!
5 NIGHT CREAM
Every night, unless you have put a moisturizing leave-on mask, you should use a night cream. There are other things you can add to your routine such as masks and oils but not on a daily basis. Perhaps once a week, you could do a mask to suit your skin type or issue and treat yourself to a monthly facial at the beauty salon where a professional will let you know if there are any changes to your skin that may need a change in products.
