“ Last February, the first 2023 edition of Mr. Universe was held in Ramsar in Iran.”
RAMSAR is a city in the province of Mazandaran,
on the coast of the Caspian Sea. The inhabitants of this tourist area near to the mountains and with attractive beaches had the opportunity to witness the event that kicked off the IFBB competition season.
Sports days of the highest level in Ramsar, as several sports were included such as the STRONGMAN and all the divisions of men’s bodybuilding, and also men and women’s FITNESS CHALLENGE and women’s arm wrestling were added. A total of 18 countries were represented at the opening ceremony, attended by the President of the IFBB, Dr. Rafael Santonja and the President of the Iranian Federation, Dr. Abdolmehdi Nasirzadeh, and also, among other authorities, by the Mayor of Ramsar, Mr. Mohsen Ahmadi and the Governor of the Mazandaran Province, Mr. Ebrahim S. Ashourian.
Bodybuilding gathered around 270 participants in the amateur classes. As is usual in Iran, the physique presented by all athletes in all disciplines had a great dispute due to the level of all the participants.

Overall winners, in addition to 16 ELITE PRO cards. The winners of the Overalls could participate in the ELITE PRO event that was held on the afternoon of Saturday the 18th.
The Classic Bodybuilding class up to 180cm was one of the most disputed. After several comparisons it was Farhad Kafaie who took the gold medal. However, the overall winner was Farshad Ebadi, winner of up to 175cm.
Classic Physique was also a star of the competition. Of all the classes presented in this discipline, the judges determined that Ali Norozi should be the overall champion of Ramsar’s Mr. Universe, thus accessing the ELITE PRO card and a cash prize of 1000USD.
In the MENS PHYSIQUE classes it was the super tall competitor Hassan Gharemani who at 190cm won his class and the overall, also achieving the ELITE PRO Card and the cash prize.
The Bodybuilding Overall was won by Seyed Amir Mahaei, with a total weight of 95kg.
On Saturday afternoon, spectators were able to see the ELITE PRO event of the MENS PHYSIQUE and BODYBUILDING divisions.
