In September this year, Serhii Danilets experienced one of bodybuilding’s ultimate highs: winning the Arnold Classic Europe in front of Arnold Schwarzenegger himself. Just as Serhii was taking in the announcement that he had won, he was joined on stage by Arnold and Dr. Rafael Santonja, President of the IFBB, and presented with a cheque for $5,000 in front of 2,000 fans. It doesn’t get much better than that.
M&H: Why did you start weight training?
Serhii: I used to do street workout. I started going to the gym in order to get stronger at the gymnastic elements. As a result, I soon got hooked on bodybuilding.
M&H: Why did you do men’s physique to begin with and what made you change?
Serhii: I have always strived to come into competitions in the best possible shape. But in the past I didn’t feel that I could win in classic physique, which is why I did another class. Now everything has changed.

M&H: What was it like to win the Arnold? Did you speak with Arnold?
Serhii: Meeting Arnold was the most amazing memory. Even more memorable than the victory itself. He shook my hand and said that I have a great body. I told him that his handshake was the biggest reward for me.
M&H: Do you think classic physique will continue to grow in popularity?
Serhii: I think classic physique will be the most popular class in the future because it is such a good look.
